The Jungle -- September 14th

The first meeting of the Cornell Club of Greater Buffalo Book Club (CCoGB-BC) took place in July and was an unqualified success. All present agreed that it was refreshing to have an extended, intelligent, friendly conversation around a central theme. Appetizers and wine were enjoyed, and several of us had dinner together afterward. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

The next meeting of the CCoGB-BC is scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, 2010, where we will be discussing Upton Sinclair's The Jungle. It is the choice of September's host, Steven Fox, and a book that all present at the last meeting had been interested in reading but never got around to. The BC has room for a few more people, and anyone who is interested should contact me (Robert Garlan) at rgarlan@earthlink.net for details.

If you are interested in general, but cannot make this meeting, contact me anyway and I'll keep you in the loop about future developments. As a rule, we decide on the next book at each meeting, and for now we are trying to schedule meetings for the second Tuesday of the month, approx. 6:30-8:30 p.m.--adjusted as needed if there are too many scheduling conflicts for those in attendance (but we are trying to keep it on Tuesdays for now).

Don't be shy. It's not like a Comp-Lit course and no special literary intelligence or knowledge is required.
